Nerve is a cylindrical bundle of fibres that start at the brain and spinal cord and branches out to every other part of the body. The nerves conduct impulses such as sensation and movement (and other signals) to and from the central nervous system.
In humans, there are pairs of:
- 12 cranial nerves
- 31 spinal nerves
